The Healthcare Leader Certificate Program is designed for leaders who work in hospitals, clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, pharmacies, laboratories and other unique healthcare environments. All of our discussions, exercises, and scenarios are healthcare based, making the program resonate with our audience.

Best Practice #2

The program reinforces the organization's goals.

The Healthcare Leader Certificate Program incorporates discussions around quality of care, patient satisfaction, financial performance, employee engagement, and other organizational goals. These discussions help participants connect the dots between the skills taught in class and organizational success.

Best Practice #3

The program provides data on where leaders can grow.

For an additional fee, the Hospital Leadership Institute can provide a personalized Leader Assessment to every participant in the program. This assessment, which covers over 60 leadership skills and behaviors,  follows the curriculum of the Healthcare Leader Certificate Program so participants know where they can grow.

Best Practice #4

The program is designed for long-term learning retention.

The Healthcare Leader Certificate Program incorporates numerous techniques that promote learning retention, including stories, humor, games, videos, exercises, and repetition. (For example, every class starts with a brief overview of the content taught in the previous class; and in the last class, there’s a Final Review covering the entire program.)

Best Practice #5

The program is respectful of participants' time.

Our research shows that participants prefer 2 ½ to 3-hour classes over half-day and full-day sessions. The Healthcare Leader Certificate Program is designed to meet this requirement.

Best Practice #6

The program includes tools that help leaders apply the new skills.

The Healthcare Leader Certificate Program includes class notes, worksheets and assignments that help participants use the skills in their jobs. Participants choose their own assignments based on their unique learning needs and existing workload.

Participants in the Healthcare Leader Certificate Program are encouraged to meet with their supervisor to discuss their class assignments. In these meetings, the supervisor should coach the participant in those areas requiring additional attention.
